Just a bit of a recap. As you will have noticed, we'd got a bit behind of late and we missed out the midwife's visit to our house to go through the birth plan.
It was something of a rush to get the last few bits of our DIY done and the evidence thereof cleaned up before D____ arrived. Fortunately, she was a little late and we looked reasonably respectable. She told us that one of the girls from their ante-natal classes had given birth the previous day. It's quite a reminder of how close we are now - if we needed one.
The first part of the appointment was the usual midwive's affair; working out where the baby was sitting (LOP, the naughty girl), blood pressure and all of that kind of stuff. After that, it was on to the birth plan. To be honest, with D____ and K___ being so pro-home birth, there was very little that we imagine could be in anyway surprising, and indeed so it proved to be. There was a couple of things that neeeded to be checked with D____ and slight amendments made, but I'll post it in the next post.
The one other issue was about where we were due to spend Christmas (and indeed from where I am writing this entry); Grantham, and the issue of whether K___ would be able to have a home birth up there if necessary. We had aready mentioned to D____ that the midwives in Grantham were not particularly encouraging about K____ just turning up and possibly needing a home birth and K____ had asked D_____ to call them to confirm that K____ was a good candidate. D____ confirmed that she'd sung K___'s praises and that as long as she presented herself to the midwives upon arrival, it would be okay.
