Keep you away my love, my love, And pray I might sleep tonight

I wonder if my darling daughter will decide to wake up at one in the morning and start crying and have to come into our bed and then spend the next three hours buggering about poking Mummy in the face, attempting to stand up and bounce while holding the headboard or singing, like she has the past two nights..?

I do hope not.

  1. my best advice is that one of you sacrifices a weeks annual leave to sort this! The nominated person goes in when she starts crying and attempts to soothe and settle her, in her own cot. This can be deathly difficult the first few nights. The reason for the annual leave is that that person gets to catch up on sleep during the day, and Olivia goes to her carer as per usual. Nominated person is to be given all the coffee/red-bull etc they need at night, because it can take a while to get the message across that it's boring waking up, you may as well go back to sleep. when we were teaching ours to sleep through, it was Phil's job to be boring, and he was quite proud of the fact that he was so dull that after a while they couldn't be bothered to wake up the house any more!

  2. hope that helps, btw!
Oh, and pre-warn the neighbours that for the next week you are planning to do sleep training, so they don't phone social services or shout through your letter box!

  3. btw again, if that sounds at all self-righteous, anyone who soesn't know me ought to know that as a mother of 3 i am a failure at getting my fussy children to eat much of anything! so i'm not claiming to be a super-mum!
