Day 274 - New Year's Day

Our midwife K__ came over today.

I was hoovering when she arrived, which I suspect made me look much more house-trained than I actually am! After making her a tea, and then making her another one without sugar, I joined them in the living room. As I entered, the midwife was putting away the blood pressure cuff and K___ was heading to the lavatory with a stick to widdle upon.

'How was the blood pressure?' I enquired.
'Entirely normal, nothing to worry about,' came the reply.

Equally normal was the protein test. All in all, everything that had seemed like it might be such a problem a few days ago now seems to be entirely normal, so we are still on for the homebirth.

The baby is still LOP (back to back) but as the midwife said that this is very common these days (all that slouching about on sofas we do in the modern world) and the baby will either come out facing the world or will wiggler her way round on the way. As we are anticipating an active labour, with K___ likely to be on hands and knees, hopefully gravity will help the baby to turn and make labour a bit easier.

Oh, and I'm back to work tomorrow. Yeah, I'm really hard done by, having had a week and a bit off, but having thought that the baby might arrive early, I half thought I wouldn't be going back.

Oh well; soon enough. Can't wait.
