And Shoes You Would Hardly Believe

I just cannot resist an Ebay bargain... just how cute are these! Olivia is wearing them, I'll save them for future offspring and then sell them back on Ebay amd hopefully get most of my money back. I've brought some lovely things recently on Ebay. Babies grow out of things so quickly that it isn't worth spending a lot and also it means there are lots of hardly worn bargains to be had. With all the hand me downs from my sister and a friend of my Mum I've covered the basics for free so I just buy bits and bobs of cute stuff in sales and from Ebay.

I personally am not a huge fan of babygros for day time. I love tiny versions of adult clothes like jeans, T'shirts and trainers for little kids. I do think that kids should be kids though and should not be sexualised too early. I hate to see 10 year old girls dressed like nightclubbing teenagers with inappropriate clothing. When Olivia gets to that sort of age it will be a careful balance and quite possibly a battle of wills to keep her looking like a child until she is actually a teenager. I once read an article in a magazine with a woman who dressed her toddler head to toe in Gucci and Prada, saying 'she will only wear designer clothes'. Who is the adult there? Surely until they are old enough to buy their own clothes a child will only wear what you buy them??? Although I do have a bit of a weakness for DKNY handbags I am not really a label whore. Most of my wardrobe comes from Marks and Spencers these days (I am soooooo turning into my mother). I am just as happy with Olivia wearing T'shirts from the supermarket as fancy and expensive clothes.

I've Got Two Left Feet

On a trip to a large town nearby with our friend S_ and her baby G_ I got Olivia some little black patent shoes in the Mothercare sale the other day, thinking they would be cute for a wedding we will be going to in July. When I got them hope and took them out of the packaging I realised that one was a size 1, one was a size 2 and they were both left feet. Oh dear, looks like another trip to Mothercare is in order!

Olivia now has a shoe collection that might one day rival Mummy's (although in my defence I did weed out a lot of pairs I don't wear recently and am now down to about 30 pairs - although the argument for the prosectution is that this is down from about 70 I think) and she now has a pair of cute baby flip flops, a pair of trainers, a pair of ballet style pumps, two pairs of summer sandals and a pair of party shoes. None of these shoes actually fits her as we are still in that difficult 'not fitting into 0-3 months although she is 2 months tomorrow' thing.
