For our overseas visitors I should explain that we are currently having some unseasonably good weather. It has been around 20 degrees C most days for the last week or so, very sunny and England is not living up to its April showers reputation. I've just been out to the shops with Olivia. I was wearing factor 20 and sunglasses. She was in her buggy with her sunshade up and also a parasol to make sure she was fully shaded. Despite being in the shade she was also wearing factor 15 lotion. If she had been exposed to the sun she I would have popped factor 50 on her, and carry it in the changing bag just in case, along with a sun hat.
On my trip out today I was amazed at just how many babies and toddlers were out in the full sun at 12 noon without sun shades. Ok so perhaps they had sun screen on but their delicate eyes and skin were still exposed to strong sun and I saw babies much smaller than Olivia with not even a sun shade on the buggy. Maybe being a 'ginger' I am just totally paranoid about getting burnt and always wear proper UV filter sunglasses so I guess I just worry about Olivia getting burnt or dazzled by the sun? I don't think it is just me though as looking at the back of the baby sun lotion tube it says that babies shouldn't be out in the sun between 12 and 3. Anyway, I will be keeping Olivia covered up as much as poss. during the full on heat of the day.
