Especially True

Olivia was watching TV with Grandma this morning. 'Oh look - a monkey!' said Grandma. Olivia looked at her like she was some sort of mad person, a look that said, 'Are you stupid or something?' and with a stern voice she piped up, 'No Grandma, it's gorilla.' That told Grandma!

  1. I was at work when this happened, but she did exactly the same thing to me earlier (knowing her, it was probably the same programme on catch up).

It's odd feeling slightly humiliated by a two year-old. Of course *I* know that gorillas aren't monkeys, but I didn't think *she* knew the difference...

Mind you, I'd have been more impressed if she'd pointed to the lack of tail as the most obvious physical give away...

  2. When I worked as an aupair I found the hardest thing was to know how much a child knew, and which things had to be explained and which didn't. It is a relief and possibly slightly scary to know that parents have trouble sometimes too. ;-)
