(I am so behind with this, it's ridiculous.)
Tuesday should have seen us go to the midwive's classes but we bunked off. Oh yeah, we're cut from 'rebels from the wrong side of town' cloth all right.
Where were we? K___'s leaving do. Yes, it's got to the time when my lovely wife gets to stay and home and keep the weight off her feet, and leave the joys of the London commute to me. I arrived in Greenwich with enough time to grab a pastrami sandwich from M&S and then eat it in front of the Cutty Sark. The Cutty Sark is looking rather forlorne at the moment. Its masts and spars were down, presumably getting some TLC somewhere and it rather robs her of her elegance. Nevermind that though, it was time to get into the pub. I only just had time to order a pint and grab a seat before K____ arrived with a huge bouquet of gerbera in hand and colleages aplenty in tow.
Although I've met K___'s colleagues from the library a few times, I hadn't met the large number of staff from the School of Humanities that she supports. They were all very pleasant and put up with my terrible jokes and bought me a few beers. More importantly, they were all very complimentary about K___ and seemed very sincere in saying how much she would be missed. It's a shame that you have to leave before they tell you that, but on the other hand, you're unlikely to get two bouquets and an embarrasingly thick wadge of vouchers unless you do.
